Painting oil landscapes and still lifes, Angela Bounds endeavors to depict color, light and shadow rather than the subject itself. Fascinated by the richness and luminescence of the oil paint, she not only aspires to capture the visual of an experience but the surface and texture as well. The richness of the texture and color compliment each other to bring a harmony in each work.

Raised in a household with a sewing machine that always seemed to have a project going and her mother’s needlework design business, Jane ultimately found her way into the world of fiber art. Since 2000, Jane has focused her art on the many different methods of Shibori, an ancient Japanese textile dyeing process that manipulates cloth through pleating, sewing, pressing, or wrapping around a core base.

During her life, Anne has established herself in the Tidewater arts community as a practicing artist, teacher, speaker, juror and officer in arts organizations. For Anne, painting has always been a waking meditation, a practice of contradictory elements: the known and unknown; familiar and suspenseful.

Helena Navarro produces hand dyed, screen printed, and sewn functional and decorative fabric objects. She currently works full-time in her studios and instructs youth and adult surface design classes, workshops and participates in artist-in-residencies at various schools in the Hampton Roads area.
