Tours of the House

Guided tours of the Museum and Sloane Collection are conducted daily by our knowledgable docent staff. Tours last approximately 45 minutes and include fifteen galleries filled with the Sloane family art collection, furniture and history.
Tours begin promptly on the hour with the last tour beginning at 4:00pm. Closed Wednesdays.

Museum and Grounds Hours                  
10 AM - 5 PM Monday- Saturday (closed Wednesdays)
1 PM - 5 PM Sunday
Closed on Wednesdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve & Christmas, New Years Day.

Admission
Museum Members, No Admission Fee with current Membership Card
Adults, $5.00
College Students (with ID), $3.00
Ages 6-18, $2.00
Children Under 6, No Admission Fee
Active Duty Military Service Personnel, No Admission Fee

Admission to the Current Art Exhibitions, With Museum Admission


Guests are requested to remove rain coats, overcoats and backpacks and leave them in our cloakroom. No photographs may be taken inside the Museum.


SPECIAL TOURS


Curator's "White Glove Tours"
Special guided tours by the
Curator of the Collection are available on Thursdays by reservation. This is a special chance to see rooms and artifacts that are not usually viewed by the public. Tours will be thematic and move throughout the permanant and changing collection. Some topics to be discussed are: Charles Woodsend, his drawings and tools; Florence K. Sloane, her contribution to the Hermitage and Norfolk; Douglas Volk, the stories behind the paintings.

Garden ToursWisteria and Woodcarving by Karl von Rydingsvard
Beginning in Summer 2006, Saturday morning tours* of the Hermitage gardens will be available by reservation. Learn about your favorite flowers, formal gardens, find out more about the Wetlands Restoration, listen to stories and see images of how the gardens looked during the Sloanes' era. Tours will be guided by the Curator of Gardens and last approximately one hour.

The price for these tours is $10.00 ($8.00 Members).
