trouble begins at eight
Mark Twain, as portrayed by Jack
Nelson, returns to the Hermitage for five evening performances
in October- November. In Mr. Clemens' last Hermitage visit in 1984, he
played to enthusiastic, overflowing crowds. Appearing in Twain's "ghostly
garb" (his trademark white linen suit), Nelson will hold forth with,
among other selections, material from the author's 1907 visit to Norfolk.
On that visit, Twain regaled his longtime chum and Virginia Railroad founder
Henry Rogers at a banquet held in Rogers' honor at the Monticello Hotel.
